Kitchens are always being re-vamped nowadays, out with the old and in with something that looks good and is functional. Formica worktops are a thing of the past; we now have beautiful surfaces such as granite and wood. But do you think about where the granite or wood has come from? How sustainable are these worktops?
The perfect answer for those who are concerned about the environment and want a beautiful kitchen was show-cased on Grand Designs and has now come to Cookham. Eco Interiors advised, sourced and installed this kitchen worktop.
The new work surface shown below comprises 95% recycled material and is manufactured using as little energy as possible, and with recycling of water used in the process. It is made of recycled clear glass mixed with oyster shells. It is really functional and looks good too. It is manufactured by GlassEco, who also helped install it in this kitchen.
The old worktop was replaced because it was worn and unhygienic. However, the kitchen units still had some years left in them and will be given a clean-up and wood treatment to look like new.
We have used natural paint on the walls, Earthborn Ballet Shoe supplied by Ty Mawr, and Dulux Ecosure on the woodwork. The decorating was done by Jim Cunningham from Cookham.
If you need an Energy Performance Certificate for a home you are renting or selling we can provide this at competitive rates.
We can set your business on the path to environmentally responsible business procedures, and future certification.
